Beautiful Blogger Award

Morgan Prince from Shaking Away the Cobwebs gave me the Beautiful Blogger Award, citing her appreciation of my "Sunday Surfing" posts.

Morgan awarded me this all the way back on the 18th of June.  I apologize for getting the post together so late, but the past several weeks have been brutal on the time front.

The 'rules' for the award are:
1) Pass the award on to seven beautiful bloggers, and
2) List seven random facts about myself.

I do realize that all these random facts I've revealed about myself over the past couple months is reaching the point of Too-Much-Information, but rules are rules and they should be upheld--except, of course, when they shouldn't be.  (Kinda like writing rules, you see.)

So here they are:

1. All facts about me are speculative fiction.

2. I'm a procrastinator.  I've been wanting to improve, but keep putting it off.

3. I'm lazy.  I've been trying to do better, but can't muster the energy to do so.

4. I'm indecisive.  I want to make firm, solid choices, but can't decide which ones.

5. I'm easily entertained.  I laugh at all my jokes.

6. I know I'm getting old.  My bifocals tell me so.

7. I know I'm getting old.  People tell me I sometimes repeat myself.

I do apologize for putting off completing this post (#2) for so long.  Blame my lazy (#3) nature, not to mention the smudges on the specs (#6) making it difficult to see the tiny little letters on the monitor.  Please don't speculate (#1) that my procrastinating had anything to do with the fact that my blogging is more beautiful than that of others (#5) either.

Just know that I'm deciding (#4) to award the Beautiful Blogger Award to *ALL* my followers because you're *ALL* beautiful and I think you're beautiful (#7) too!

I just can't shake the feeling that I'm forgetting something...

Stylish Blogger Award

Megan Adamson from Lady of Muse awarded me the Stylish Blogger Award!  (She gave me a couple others too, but I'll post about those separately since they require more thought.)

The funny thing is, according to my son and daughter, my style is anything but stylish.  I therefore must thank Megan for providing me with ammunition to prove them wrong.  Yo kids, Daddy got style. :-)

Accepting this award apparently requires me to tell you about the last time I was dressed up.  I guess that begs the question "how dressed up?"

If it means a necktie then that would be better than ten years ago when my employer's dress code went from business dress to business casual.  I actually don't mind the whole coat and tie gig, but I forgo them unless they're expected.

If it means a tux, then that would be almost 28 years ago when this crazy, wonderful woman I fell in love with committed her life to me and I to her.  Yeah, still committed, still crazy and still wonderful!

But in truth, my usual style is parading around barefooted wearing shorts or sweatpants.  What did you expect?  I'm a guy.  We don't get gussied up all that much.  I prefer dressing up my characters instead.

The Versatile Blogger

Yikes!  I've been double-tagged!  L. G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and Jennifer from A Creative Exercise have both awarded me with the Versatile Blogger award!

With this award there are a few things that I need to do:

Thank and link back to the person who sent you the award.
Write 7 random facts about yourself.
Nominate 7 other bloggers for the award.

Random Facts:
I recently received the Kreativ Blogger Award and revealed ten random facts about myself in addition to answering ten questions.  TMI or not, here come seven more.
  1. I prefer Star Trek over Star Wars, but love them both.
  2. I liked the new Battlestar Galactica better than the original.
  3. I was disappointed to see The 4400 cancelled.
  4. I was even more disappointed that no season of Heroes was better than the first.  (Granted, they set the bar rather high that first year.)
  5. I'd debate long and hard over which superpower to have if I could choose only one.  (Teleportation would save me time, but telekinesis would be so cool.)
  6. I have more than 50 fantasy books (print and eBook) that I still haven't got around to reading yet.  (And I want more!)
  7. I've yet to watch Lost, The Sopranos, True Blood or A Game of Thrones.  (gasp!)
Nominations:
This is the part that gives me pause.  I've learned from experience that some bloggers won't do them, other bloggers crave them and most have already received them.  So, if you've already been tagged or don't want to participate, that's okay.  No pressure.  (I chose eight because I like breaking rules.)

Sara from Cutest Landing
Lauren from Eclectic
Zan Marie from In the Shade of the Cherry Tree
Linda from Writers Do Laundry, Too
Laura from Stranger Than Writing
Shauna from The Frenetic and the Fantastic
Imogen from Dancing with Dragonflies
Leslie from Leslie Pugh, one word at a time

Kreativ Blogger Award

Again I've been caught.  Just can't run that fast in my old age, it seems.  This time, Adam Gaylord caught me.  Thank-you, Adam!  (But be warned, Adam, all those who read this blog may hunt you down and flog you for forcing me to reveal TMI.)

First the rules:
1. Thank & link back to the person who nominated you.
2. Answer the ten questions below.
3. Share ten random facts/thoughts about yourself.
4. Nominate seven worthy blogs for the Kreativ Blogger Award.

And now, the answers...

What's your favorite song?
Really?  I'm supposed to choose only ONE?  Well, how about this one?
Fight Another Day by Brandon Heath

What's your favorite dessert?
Depends on the day.  Usually banana pudding or strawberry shortcake wins.  Carrot cake has been known to trump them on rare occasions.  (Girl scout shortbread doesn't count.)

What ticks you off?
This one's easy.  Intolerance, especially by those who preach tolerance.  (Rudeness is a close second.)

What do you do when you're upset?
Depends on the cause and my location.  Read, surf (the internet) or listen to music if any of those are options.

Which is your favorite pet?
Seeing as how I haven't yet found one that is fully self-sufficient thereby qualifying as favorite, I'll go with my wife's Basset Hound, Sally Sue.

Which do you prefer, black or white?
I'm a shades of gray kinda guy, myself.

What is your biggest fear?
Giving my wife the checkbook.  Being broke and homeless.

What is your attitude mostly?
Cautiously optimistic.

What is perfection?
That should be "Who is perfection" and either Tina Turner or me would be the answer!  LOL

What is your guilty pleasure?
Freshly baked yeast rolls.  The guilt comes from the quantity I consume given the chance.

Ten Random Facts: (Ready or not...)
  1. I was born a last-minute tax deduction (New Year's Eve) making me a Capricorn.
  2. My toes are nearly as nimble as my fingers.
  3. I am not Bill Compton despite the similarities so many people claim to see.
  4. I want to see two things in person before I die: the Northern Lights and the clear waters of the Caribbean.
  5. I never kissed my wife until the day I asked her to marry me.
  6. I have been granted permission by my wife to lust after Tina Turner to my heart's content seeing as how I have absolutely no shot at the sexiest woman alive (aside from my wife.)
  7. I have an autographed picture of Marina Sirtis...somewhere.
  8. I love the blues, Motown and jazz in that order.
  9. I only sing in the shower and car.  Bad things happen when I sing elsewhere.
  10. I'm a creature of contradiction.  Examples: I love snow, but hate the cold; I love sunshine, but prefer to stay indoors; I'm concurrently conservative and liberal... I could go on, but I won't.
Nominations: I've nominated  so many for so much recently I'll probably get hate mail tagging even more.  I therefore tag all 89 of my followers.  I would like to know more about all of you.  If you take me up on the tag, leave a comment so I can check out your answers and random facts!  (This is not a cop-out!  I really do want to know!)
