Let me begin this week's list of links by apologizing for my lack of presence in Bloggyland lately. The past fortnight has been grueling at work with little letup in sight for the coming week. I have managed to visit a bit here and there and save some links to posts I want to revisit. And somewhere in all the hustle and bustle I managed to add about twenty words to my WIP! (hanging head in shame.)

Hey, don't feel so bad...real life happens and twenty words are better than none.
ReplyDeleteHope things slow down to a reasonable pace for you, soon!
Thanks, Mark. As do I. Tends to be a bit cyclical in my line of work, but sometimes the cycle peaks are more demanding than others.
DeleteWoo Hoo! 20 words! Break open the champagne.
ReplyDeleteJeff, my week (and weeks ahead) was the same. I'm afraid I'll not have much time for visiting in the future, as I'm writing my arse off on things that have been neglected for too long.
I appreciate the link to PBC! I hope you'll join in on one of the months. I'm also glad for the two photo resources you gave. I'm always looking for those.
Thanks, dude. Yeah...a 49 y/o dude. Let's go out to California and hand out flowers at the airport. :o)
Hanging out flowers? Hum, in all my centuries of life have never tried that. I handed out hugs though. Big fun.
DeleteLOL, Mike. I "dude" people all the time. A leftover habit from a bygone day that I'll probably take to my grave. And having been born in California, handing out flowers probably wouldn't be much of a stretch for me. (Some people claim it explains a lot about me!)
DeleteYou're quite welcome regarding the link. And I will try to participate in one of those.
Great trailer. And well done to you.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Erica. Rayne put together a trailer for each of the Ten Tales series in addition to a nice one for Storm Dancer.
DeleteWe all have weeks like that - no worries!
ReplyDeleteIt's the repetitive nature of those weeks that worries me, Alex. :)
DeletePhoto Pin just made me laugh. I search for dragon and it gave me Japanese Ugly Wonder Woman picture, hahahahahaha.
ReplyDelete20 words! That's great compared to my very round zero. Go Jeff!
I'll have to go try that and see if I get the same. If I don't solidify some plot choices, twenty words a week may be all the progress I make.
DeleteFirst off, do not hang your head in shame! You easily could have written nothing, being so busy and all, but instead you managed to find the time to write twenty whole words. That's worth being proud of!
ReplyDeleteSecondly, great links, as always! That world-building blogfest looks like a lot of fun. I also appreciate that "show versus tell" article. As important as it is to show, I've always believed that there are times where telling is necessary, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!
Yes, I haven't signed up for the world-building blogfest yet, but I may do a post or two. Time will be the deciding factor, I think. And yes, that "Show Versus Tell" article was refreshing.
Delete20 words is better than my last days. Great links, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm always on the lookout for great blogs and was happy to have found yours!
DeleteI've gone months without adding a word. At least you wrote something. You could try out some flash fiction since you're short on time. Good for practice and (what a coincidence) trying out new genres.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a good month or two since I've written any flash. Not a bad idea. I did, I think, put the final touches on my latest short story though.
DeleteTell you the same thing I just wrote on Mike's blog. Above all, take care of yourself and yeah, sometimes that just means something has to go. Visiting blogs is an easier one (and a time-sucker!) to give up. Best to you friend.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Julie. I do regret those periods when I can't visit like I want though. This community is too inspirational and encouraging to stay away from for too long.
DeleteGreetings Jeff,
ReplyDeleteAh, my human friend, it seems that work has impacted your opportunities to get much writing done. You apologise for not being around much in blogland. I wish my human would apologise whenever he does a posting!
I shall endeavour to check out your links. I will tell you that my human is into grammar anarchy :)
All the beast, sorry, all the best from Penny the Jack Russell dog and next 'Paw Minister' of Britain!
But Penny, your pet human conjures some excellently entertaining posts. We should offer applause rather than Gary offering apologies. I hope you and your human both enjoy the links!
DeleteAnd I tip my hat to the finest Paw Minister Britain could have!
No worries, Jeff, we all have such days. My internet has become painfully slow, I just don't feel like getting onto it :(
ReplyDeleteI don't mind there being days like this so much; it's when they stretch into weeks like this that I get a bit frustrated. Hope your internet connection improves!
DeleteI'm right there with you, Jeff, but hey, twenty words is twenty words closer to the finish line! Here's hoping for a more productive writing week. :)
ReplyDeleteAs luck would have it, I did manage to get in several hundred words last night. So refreshing!
DeleteHey, sometimes twenty words is a breakthrough!! Thanks for this link round-up.
ReplyDeleteEspecially if the twenty words are keepers. You're welcome for the links.
DeleteGreat links! I especially liked the Show vs Tell one!
ReplyDeleteIndeed. I love balanced point-counterpoint arguments. There is beauty in balance. :)
