Amazing how Star Trek developed. It wasn't a very high-quality show at the time. I have memories of that show and Lost In Space (even less quality). Both shows ignited a passion for reading sci fi in my younger years.
ReplyDeleteAs always, great links. I read the article about arrogance with interest too. It made a good point.
I was hoping to get some people's take on that arrogance article. And yes, Star Trek's original series was every bit as much about social and political commentary as techno-geekdom.
DeleteThanks for the links. I haven't looked at them yet but there are a couple that I really need to read.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the timeline makes me feel really old. LOL!
P.S. Just read the arrogance article. It says what I already believed...because I'm arrogant (in a writerly sense) :D
DeleteAll timelines make me feel old! LOL I just can't bring myself to say "I'm arrogant" with any conviction, but the points it raises just calls my modesty bluff, I guess. :-)
DeleteThat graph is a Trekker's geek dream!
ReplyDeleteAnd Melissa's list of writing motivations was great.
It was indeed a great post. And I couldn't help but display that Trek timeline.
DeleteI love Star Trek!
ReplyDeleteAll great minds love Star Trek! ;-)
DeleteGrrreat! I finally got my own word counter. Now everybody will know I've written a single word in weeks. Yippee!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Al!
DeleteThese posts are so great on Sundays. I always need motivation and am knee-deep in some sort of writing project on Sundays, so thanks! I love the Ruth Harris link.
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome. I really do enjoy gathering up these links week after week.
DeleteStar Trek has inspired more astronauts than anything else.
ReplyDeleteIt has inspired many people over the years, a testament to its greatness.
